Welcome to fotobyferg!
I have thousands of photos on this site but for the time-being I have made most of them Private, as I figure out how to selectively share many of our trips, friends and experiences.

- Arden Harness $2500
This is a beautiful, three year old barely used complete Arden leather pairs harness in a gorgeous burgundy (cordovan/oxblood) color with stainless steel fittings. I have another leather harness, so I have decided to offer this one for sale. Arden is a quality Polish made harness and this was custom made and ordered through Olaf Nyby. You can Google the Arden website to view the quality of their work at www.arden.pl. Harness is sold "As is": excellent like-new condition with little to no scuffs or blemishes beyond routine wear where metal meets leather, etc.
This harness has been used approximately one dozen times and has always been kept clean and stored inside. It has decorative teardrops and trace carriers along with buckle-in traces with both slotted and dee ends. This is a standard size cob harness with room to adjust larger or smaller. The pair in the picture are 14.2hh and weigh @ 1000 pounds each. The bits are not included, but reins and pole-straps are. It's a quality harness, but I don't need three (pairs harness) and it would make someone a lovely show harness.
Make it yours!
- Demarest $3800
This is a classic antique horse-drawn vehicle ready for restoration. AT Demarest was a prominent NYC carriage maker in the late 1800s with a factory on 5th Ave & 33rd Street. Demarest carriages are highly collectible. This carriage was purchased at Martin's Auction in PA (a well respected carriage auction) and has been kept indoors under cover awaiting restoration.
Regrettably, other life-events have intervened and the carriage is still waiting to be restored.
This carriage is sound, with no evidence of rot. The wicker is lovely and well preserved. Everything is in original condition. It has horse shafts and a pair pole (also purchased at Martin's, but maker unknown) that, with only minor tweaking, should be suitable for this carriage. There is one hubnut/axlecap on a rear wheel that is missing but easily replaceable (Witmer's Carriage Supply). It has the original parasol but a portion of its support frame appears to be missing, though repairable. The metal parts appear structurally sound. This carriage is sold in "As is" condition, representative of an antique of this age and purpose.
I am not a carriage restorer and have taken many photos in an attempt to adequately depict this beautiful vehicle. It's lines are delicate and refined. Depending upon one's choice, this vehicle can be restored to either a sporting or formal presentation by a knowledgeable carriage enthusiast. I love this carriage, but I am letting go of the dream (I'm not getting any younger).
Make it your dream, and finish it your way!
- DWW Drives '08 & '09
We were running out of space in Part 1, as there is a 500 photo limit per album. So here's the next section of pictures from a *very* active group of drivers!
Please visit www.DelmarvaWhipsandWheels.homestead.com for more information on our group!
- DWW Drives '10 & '11
DWW is a new "non" club, devoid of the complications arising from politics and the contentiousness governing bodies with by-laws sometimes create. Our events are premised on the quintessentially basic American concept of individual responsibility. "He who governs least, governs best."
This site is a simple photo record of some of the areas where DWW has been in recent months. DWW events are by invitation only and are purposefully limited to enhance the driving experience at each venue. However, if you are an interested carriage driver and would like to learn more about us please visit , send us a photo of your turn-out and tell us more about yourself.
- Gettysburg: a Drive into History
DWW at Gettysburg National Park. This required a special permit and lots of advance work, but "Wow", was it worth it!
Music is the Main Title from the movie "Gettysburg".
Although many videos were taken only a few are presented here; the rest I gave to the participants in DVD form.

- Sleigh $1600 ***FIRM*** (located in Delaware) SOLD!
OFFERED THROUGH END OF JANUARY ONLY!
This is a classic antique horse-drawn sleigh fully restored to it's original condition by Weaver Martin of Shady Lane Carriages in PA. I would estimate its weight to be @ 150 pounds. The horse pulling it in the photo/video is 14.2hh and weighs 1000 pounds.
It has been driven three times since its restoration and, with the exception of some minor and unfortunate dime-sized mice damage (that has been repaired) on parts of the cushion, it is in near mint condition.
The price on this sleigh is only a fraction of its restoration fee; I am selling it at a loss. Why? Good question... there's just not enough snow where I live to warrant keeping it. My loss is another's gain.
Grab it now, before I tuck it away for another season!

- Moses Cone Drive faster, I hear banjos...
This was the "highway" we got on in our little RV to reach The Blue Ridge Parkway in NC. We were on it for a very long 3+ miles.
- Moses Cone Video
I wanted different music for the videos...
I also wish you could get a sense of the terrain; we were either going UP or we were going DOWN. Some of the switchbacks on the trail (plus the access road from the stable area) were SO STEEP I had Steve get off the carriage and walk by the horses' heads, in case things got hairy. There was one descent where we practically slid off the mountain (and where another horse did, and died, the day before). Definitely not for the faint of heart or inexperienced driver.

Hubby saw this emerging from it's casing as we walked past the porch on our way to the pool. Of course, I had to record it... all told it took about 2 hours.

- Moses Cone & The Blowing Rock Photos (push the forward arrow if the slideshow freezes)
What a beautiful area! Weather was beautiful (bug-free, dry and cool) and we made some great new friends. The trails, however, were pretty darn challenging and, frankly, I don't know what we would have done if we had met a carriage going in the other direction on the approximately 80% of the carriage roads that were only about 8-10 feet wide (AND sloped AND curving). Luckily, we didn't. (Passing all the Paso Finos and Walking Horses was enough "fun")...especially since some of them thought we should stop and stand while *they* all pranced by on the safe side (the side where you could fall off the mountainside drop that was 6 inches away). Sorry, not gonna happen....

- Tally Dog Park
- Dept. 56 Collection
Here's a low light video and some stills of my collection of North Pole and Dicken's Village pieces. I wanted to get the lit effect, but in so doing, the video is a bit grainy because most of the other lights are out in the room. I hope you can still get a sense of the ambience of these village scenes where, when it's late and quiet, I imagine the laughter and conversation emanating from the streets and cottages. This takes around 2-3 weeks to set up, each house being individually lit and many of the accessory pieces specifically designed to compliment the shops and cottages. (These are also taken for insurance purposes.) Enjoy!

Back to what I love...
Snow finally melted down to a "useable" level.
Still regaining my strength and energy. A few more drives with my horses and I should start feeling like my old self again!
Horse is Studly, 1/2 of my father/son pair. Sleigh is a restored antique Portland Cutter, but is only for single horse use--- too light for a pair.
